Microchip Your Pet

Registered microchips give lost pets the best chance of returning home. As a pet owner, it's one of the most important actions you can take. Sadly, many pets end up in shelters because they don't have proper identification.

Microchipping is a permanent way to identify your pet if it is lost or stolen. A microchip is an integrated circuit about the size of a grain of rice that is implanted under your dog or cat's skin between their shoulders. Every microchip has an identification number, and all of these numbers are stored in a special database.

If your pet is lost and turned in to Animal Control or a shelter, they will be scanned for a microchip. If one is found, the identification number will appear on the scanner screen and the Animal Control Officer or shelter worker will contact the microchip manufacturer to retrieve the owner's contact information. It's important to keep your contact information current.

Microchipping is a safe and easy way to reunite lost pets with their owners. Your pets' safe return is worth the cost of a microchip.

Below you will find The AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. Once a microchip identification number is entered into the tool, within seconds a list of all the registries with that microchip registration information is available, along with the registries' contact information. The registry with the most recent update appears first.
