Help create the roadmap to PSL's future at the 2019 #IamPSL Citizen Summit
Fun, interactive activities for adults & children
Residents of all ages are encouraged to drop by the Port St. Lucie Community Center on Saturday, February 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to become a co-creator of the City’s future at the annual #IamPSL Citizen Summit, a community conversation about PSL’s long-term goals.
Building from the success of last year’s event, which drew about 400 people on a week night, the City is holding this year’s Summit on a Saturday in an effort to reach even more residents to gather their feedback. The data and information collected at this event will be used to help the City Council update its Strategic Plan. (More information on the plan can be found at www.cityofpsl.com/strategicplan).
This is not your ordinary public meeting. Residents will walk through and give feedback at fun, interactive booths, geared toward all ages. Each booth will represent one of the City’s seven strategic goals, along with a booth focused on the Crosstown Parkway Extension project. This year’s theme: Love your City, Love Your Neighborhood, reflects the emphasis that also will be placed on the City’s Neighborhood Improvement and Community Engagement (NICE) Program. Residents will be able to provide input on future enhancements in their specific neighborhood and preview the new neighborhood entry markers.
Besides learning about the goals, residents – kids and adults alike – will be able to let City Council know which projects, topics and issues are worth their tax dollars. Each participant will be allotted PSL Bucks, which they will allocate as they feel appropriate toward the goals. This is a free, drop-in event at the Port St. Lucie Community Center, 2195 SE Airoso Blvd, and those who provide feedback will receive a T-shirt and giveaways while supplies last.
The success of this event depends on participation and feedback from residents of all ages about creating a roadmap to Port St. Lucie’s future. While adults and teens explore the booths, there will be fun activities focused on civic responsibility, such as recycling, water conservation, specifically geared toward those ages 6 to 14.
Other activities planned for this year’s event include:
- Police Department speeding prevention simulator and virtual reality experience
- Bounce House, Fishing, Putting and Touch-A-Truck for children
- Selfie station. Be a part of the #IamPSL selfie mural.
- Complimentary refreshments
- Entertainment showcasing PSL talent
- Learn about your NICE neighborhood and meet your neighbors
The City’s seven strategic goals are: Safe, clean and beautiful; vibrant neighborhoods; quality education for all residents; diverse economy and employment opportunities; high quality infrastructure and facilities, culture, nature and fun activities; and high performing city government organization.
