Parks & Recreation Department Unveils a New Look

Post Date:06/20/2019 2:12 PM

PORT ST. LUCIE – The City of Port St. Lucie Parks & Recreation Department proudly announces its new branding, coinciding with the completion of its 10-Year Master Plan, National Parks & Recreation month and the commencement of its national accreditation process.

“The Parks & Recreation Department has long offered high-quality parks and recreational opportunities, and the future requires our commitment to further improvement,” said City Manager Russ Blackburn. “With a fresh energy, vision and look for the Department, we are excited to reach our community in new and exciting ways and embark on the journey with them.”

The 30+ year old Parks & Recreation Department last updated its logo in 1991, when the Parks and Recreation divisions formed one department. Tasked with operating and maintaining the City’s robust system of more than 45 parks (totaling over 1,500 acres), the Department also offers various programs and leisure activities designed to improve the quality of life for every member of the community. The newly announced branding better communicates the new, dynamic and innovative approaches the Department is taking to ensure further improvement and deeper community engagement.

“The story of our Parks & Recreation Department is as diverse and exciting as our community,” says Sherman Conrad, Director, PSL Parks & Recreation. “Our new branding is a fun, modern and identifiable means of communicating everything our Department stands for and has to offer. We can’t wait to share our story with the community and see everyone enjoying our Parks & Recreation amenities, both now and in years to come.”

The Port St. Lucie Parks & Recreation Department also invites the public to the City’s upcoming Independence Day extravaganza, Freedomfest, on July 4, 2019 at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center. With the month of July being National Parks & Recreation month, residents can expect further events, activities and programs celebrating the month and the Department’s new brand.
