New Traffic Configuration at Crosstown & Floresta Dr.
The contractor will start constructing the raised island in the intersection of Crosstown Parkway and Floresta Drive in preparation for opening the bridge and roadway for traffic on September 28, 2019. The permanently raised island will regulate a new traffic pattern for motorists and pedestrians.
Starting on August 7, 2019, the reduced conflict intersection with signalized U-turns will open to traffic in a temporary one lane configuration. The signals will not be activated as traffic will not be traveling east and west on Crosstown. Crosstown will remain closed from Sandia to Floresta and the bridge will not be open to traffic from Floresta to U.S. Highway 1 until September 28, 2019.
During the temporary configuration, motorists can travel north and south on Floresta by stopping at the intersection of Crosstown and Floresta and making a right turn. Motorist will drive a short distance and pull into the designated turn lane area. Motorists will make a U-turn and drive for a short distance to make a right back onto Floresta north and south to continue to their desired destination.
