The Port St. Lucie Civic Center is home to a 2,000-square-foot Art Gallery, a beautifully-appointed exhibition space framed with stately columns and classic woodwork. It offers local and regional artists a professional venue to advance and display their work.
The Port Saint Lucie Arts League is a 501-C nonprofit organization made up of local professional and nonprofessional artists. The League has partnered with the City every year to proudly call the Art Gallery their home since the Civic Center opened in 2008. The League has been in operation for over 25 years developing cultural awareness of the arts and providing increased opportunities for artists to display and sell artwork locally.

Artist: Jimmie L. Ervin
Jimmie L. Ervin was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 25, 1946. He fell in love with art during his high school years and was privileged to have his own showing. At age 17, he joined the Navy during the Vietnam War, serving aboard the Destroyer USS Ingraham. At sea, his shipmates would ask for painted portraits of loved ones. Between painting and war, Ervin received two bronze stars and became disabled. After the war, Ervin studied at the Maryland Institute of Art and trained as a decorative artist under the instruction of Pierre Finkelstein and Donna’s Classic Faux's & Finishes.
He started a paint business and became a minister for 36 years. After 45 years of struggling with loss of memory, PTSD, seizures, cancer and the loss of a wife and son, VA psychologists encouraged Ervin to turn to art once again. With the support of his new wife and the community, Ervin is enjoying the results of his artistic therapy.
