June marks the beginning of hurricane season (June 1 until November 30) – and that means it’s time to get prepared!
There’s no better place to start than by attending the 14th Annual City of Port St. Lucie Hurricane Expo, set for Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Civic Center. Admission and parking are free.
The 2020 Hurricane Expo is expected to draw thousands to the Civic Center and is a premier storm preparation event that connects residents with businesses and emergency services providers. Being prepared is the key to protecting your home and loved ones during a severe storm.
This premier storm preparation event brings together over 60 businesses and emergency service providers with information and products that can help keep you, your home and your loved ones prepared and safe through hurricane season. You’ll also learn the latest news through presentations by Emergency Management experts and meteorologists.
And don’t forget your furry family members! “We’ll have the St. Lucie Humane Society on site providing rabies vaccinations and microchipping for a reduced fee, and animal control personnel to help license your pets,” says Anna Marie Colonnese, Expo Coordinator.
There’s plenty of fun for the family, too, including a simulator that lets you experience strong winds first-hand, and a green screen photo booth that pictures you in an array of storm backgrounds. Free T-shirts and raffle prizes will be distributed while supplies last, and food trucks will be on site with plenty of refreshments for purchase.
For more information about this event, please call the Emergency Management Division at 772-873-6341.
