Call for Artists: Botanical Gardens Sculptures and Utility Box Wraps

The City of Port St. Lucie is inviting artists and photographers to contribute to two upcoming public art initiatives aimed at celebrating nature, enhancing community identity and enriching the City’s visual landscape.

Temporary Sculpture Installations at the Botanical Gardens

The Friends of the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens are seeking two existing garden‑ or nature‑themed sculptures for temporary placement for a period of 18 months, with installation planned by Nov. 20, 2026. One sculpture will greet visitors at the entrance, while the second will be showcased in the rose garden.

This opportunity is open exclusively to Florida-based artists.

Questions are due Aug. 12, 2026, and RFQ submissions are due Sept. 11, 2026.

Utility Box Wrap Photography Project

The City is also inviting photographers of all ages—professional or amateur—to submit original photographs for a project that transforms traffic‑intersection utility boxes into vibrant displays. The initiative aligns with City Council’s vision of placing art in unexpected places and refreshing existing wraps with new, nature‑centered designs.

Photographers must have a connection to Port St. Lucie—whether living, working, attending school or worshiping in the City—and may submit one original work captured in high‑resolution landscape‑orientation JPG format. Submissions should authentically reflect local wildlife, native vegetation and Port St. Lucie’s characteristic landscapes, emphasizing the area's biodiversity and scenic charm.

Submissions will be accepted from Aug. 21 through Oct. 2, 2026, and should include the photographer’s name, contact information and artwork title. Minors also must include guardian contact information. All entries should be emailed to bgrubbs@cityofpsl.com.

Submitted photographs will be evaluated by the City’s Public Art Advisory Board, which will review each piece for photographic quality, thematic relevance, printability and suitability for utility box wraps. Final selections will be recommended to City Council during its next scheduled meeting. Approved artists will receive recognition on the City’s website, and their work could be used by the City for up to seven years. Each finished wrap also will feature a designated 16-inch by 16-inch space for the artist’s signature.

This initiative invites community members to help beautify Port St. Lucie’s public spaces, transforming everyday infrastructure into unexpected artistic encounters while celebrating the city’s natural environment.
