New public park honors veterans and first responders while expanding outdoor recreation opportunities in Port St. Lucie
Mattamy Homes, North America’s largest family-owned homebuilder, and the City of Port St. Lucie will officially open Stars and Stripes Park with a public ceremony and celebration on Thursday, June 4, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Located at 12441 Southwest Village Parkway, the 26.5-acre park is a vibrant mix of green spaces, scenic ponds and themed art installations designed to honor veterans and first responders. The grand opening celebration will transform the park into an immersive evening experience featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live music from a DJ, food vendors, family-friendly entertainment and interactive activities throughout the park’s “Celestial Space.”
“Stars and Stripes Park is a shining example of what makes Port St. Lucie special. We are a community that honors service, values connection and continually invests in places where families can come together,” said Port St. Lucie Mayor Shannon Martin. “This park not only celebrates the heroes who keep our community safe, but also creates new opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy the beauty, spirit and innovation that define our City.”
The celebration will include a robotic dog technology demonstration from the Port St. Lucie Police Department. Additional photo opportunities, themed entertainment and nighttime lighting displays will encourage guests to explore the park after sunset as the space transforms through color, projection lighting and illuminated installations.
“At Mattamy Homes, creating communities means more than just building homes,” said Dan Grosswald, president of Mattamy Homes’ Southeast Florida Division. “Our goal is to create spaces where people can connect and feel rooted, and Stars and Stripes Park adds another outdoor destination to the area for people of all ages to enjoy.”
Anchored by a dramatic waving flag sculpture and illuminated stars, the park features:
- Engraved quotes and symbolic design elements that create moments of reflection.
- A solar system-inspired display centered around a large sundial surrounded by gyroscopic metal rings and colorful translucent inserts that shift with the movement of the sun.
- Planet-themed installations positioned throughout the park illustrate the scale and distance between planetary orbits.
The opening of Stars and Stripes Park marks the latest collaboration between Mattamy Homes and the City to expand parks and public gathering spaces for Port St. Lucie’s growing population. Another partnership, Tradition Regional Park is expected to open later this year.
Parking for the event will be available at 13700 SW Anthony F. Sansone Sr. Blvd. and 10801 SW Meeting St. A complimentary shuttle service will transport guests to and from the event throughout the evening.
