The City of Port St. Lucie’s Code Compliance Division has once again earned national recognition from the American Association of Code Enforcement (AACE), achieving its highest four‑star reaccreditation rating to date.

Nearly seven years ago, Code Compliance began the rigorous process of seeking accreditation through AACE, a program that evaluates agencies on professional standards, operational procedures, training and community service.

In 2020, the City was one of just three agencies in the country, and the first and only one in Florida, to earn a four‑star accreditation. The City strengthened its performance again in 2023 with its first reaccreditation.

This year’s reaccreditation reflects continued progress. Staff devoted significant effort to refining standard operating procedures, strengthening department policies and enhancing the overall accreditation package. As a result, the City achieved its highest scoring four‑star reaccreditation since joining the program.

Today, Port St. Lucie is one of only 11 agencies nationwide to hold an active AACE agency accreditation.

“Maintaining accreditation is more than meeting national standards – it’s about ensuring our community receives consistent, high‑quality code compliance services,” said Neighborhood Services Department Director Carmen Capezzuto. “This reaccreditation reflects the dedication of our Code Compliance team and their commitment to serving residents with professionalism and integrity.”

The Division will continue to evaluate and improve internal processes to preserve its standing as one of the nation’s leading code compliance agencies and to support safe, well‑maintained neighborhoods across Port St. Lucie.
