City of PSL Parks and Recreation earns national reaccreditation

Published on October 13, 2026

The City of Port St. Lucie Parks and Recreation Department reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, well-managed and high-quality experiences for residents by earning reaccreditation through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NPRA).

CAPRA accreditation is the only national accreditation specifically for park and recreation agencies, recognizing excellence in operations, management and service to the community. Achieving this standard means an agency has met rigorous criteria covering everything from facility and land management to safety practices, programming and administrative procedures.

To achieve reaccreditation, Port St. Lucie Parks and Recreation demonstrated full compliance with all 154 nationally recognized standards and documented each of its policies and processes. The evaluation often helps agencies identify ways to enhance efficiency and strengthen accountability, ultimately supporting better service and improved experiences for residents and visitors.

“Our team has been committed to continuous improvement since receiving initial accreditation in 2021,” said Brad Keen, Director of Port St. Lucie Parks and Recreation. “Our residents tell us that having access to parks and green spaces is one of their top priorities. Achieving full compliance across all CAPRA standards reflects our dedication to providing parks, programs and facilities that contribute to the quality of life in Port St. Lucie.”

The NRPA includes more than 10,000 park and recreation agencies across the United States, with only about 220 earning CAPRA accreditation – putting the City of Port St. Lucie in elite company. For more information about CAPRA accreditation, visit nrpa.org/CAPRA.

With approximately 50 parks and recreational facilities across Port St. Lucie, the City’s Parks and Recreation Department hosts more than 5.3 million visits each year by offering endless opportunities to relax, play, exercise, learn or enjoy the Florida sunshine. Visit PSLparks.com to learn more.
