New details announced for PSL's 20th Hurricane Expo on June 6

The City of Port St. Lucie will mark two decades of the Hurricane Preparedness Expo, a long‑standing community event focused on providing residents with the knowledge, tools and resources needed to stay safe during storm season. With new details announced just in time for hurricane season, this year’s Expo provides a timely opportunity for residents to get informed and prepared before potential storms impact our region.

The 2026 Expo will take place Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center, 9221 SE Event Center Place.

For 20 years, the Hurricane Preparedness Expo has brought together local experts, emergency managers, businesses and community partners to promote safety, preparedness and resiliency. Attendees can expect: 

• Expert presentations: Meteorologists, emergency professionals and City staff will share the latest insights on storm forecasting, preparedness strategies and safety best practices.

   

• Exhibitor hall: Browse nearly 50 booths from partners and vendors specializing in storm shutters, impact windows, roofing, gutters, tree services, restoration, emergency supplies and more. Guests can meet and talk with meteorologists throughout the event, including WPBF 25 ABC’s First Warning Weather Team, Chief Certified Meteorologist Cris Martinez, Meteorologist Glenn Glazer, Meteorologist Nikki Sheaks and Meteorologist Brooke Silverang, as well as WPEC CBS 12 Chief Meteorologist Greg Rule.

   

• New Kid Zone: A dedicated family area featuring hands‑on hurricane education, including coloring activities, emergency‑kit building and a fun scavenger hunt.

   

• New Wind Simulator Experience sponsored by Sampson Tree Service: Step into a controlled environment that demonstrates 78 mph winds, the equivalent of a Category 1 hurricane, for an unforgettable and educational experience.

   

• Interactive activities: Enjoy a photo booth, family‑friendly games and a raffle featuring preparedness‑themed prizes.

Event Schedule

• 10-10:15 a.m.: Opening ceremonies with Mayor Shannon M. Martin
• 10:30-11:30 a.m.: WPBF presentation with Chief Certified Meteorologist Cris Martine
• 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Emergency Management Panel (featuring emergency management specialists from St. Lucie, Indian River and Martin counties, together with the City of Port St. Lucie)
• 1-2:00 p.m. – WPEC presentation with Chief Meteorologist Greg Rule
