The Port St. Lucie City Council continued its commitment to reducing property taxes for residents when it agreed to lower the City’s millage rate for the 11th consecutive year.

At the annual Summer Workshop held July 22-23, City Council approved a property tax (millage) rate of 4.8750 for FY 2026-27, a decrease from 4.9750 in FY 2025-26. The budget will be adopted by City Council in September, with public hearings taking place Sept. 14 and Sept. 28. The FY 2026-27 budget goes into effect Oct. 1, 2026.

The property tax reduction maintains Port St. Lucie’s record of steadily reducing its millage rate while managing historic population growth, investing in essential infrastructure and improving public safety.

Since 2016, the City has reduced its millage rate by 25%, saving the average homeowner nearly $2,000 over a 10-year period. The City of PSL has the third lowest municipal tax rate out of Florida’s 20 largest cities.
