Port St. Lucie invites community to 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

What: Join the City of Port St. Lucie for a morning of reflection during the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony where our community will unite to honor the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and reaffirm our nation’s enduring strength and unity. This year’s ceremony holds special significance as we commemorate the 25th anniversary of that tragic day.

When: Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, 8:30 a.m.

Where: Memorial Fountain at MIDFLORIDA Event Center, 9221 Event Center Place

Why: The Remembrance Ceremony serves as a time for our community to reflect and pay tribute to the victims, heroes and survivors of Sept. 11. In recognition of the 25th anniversary, this year’s program will feature remarks from Port St. Lucie Mayor Shannon Martin, Port St. Lucie Police Chief Leo Niemczyk and St. Lucie County Fire District Firefighter/Paramedic Allen Civita. An invocation will be delivered by Port St. Lucie Police Department Chaplain Nick Manzie.  

The Port St. Lucie High School Choir will perform as part of the ceremony. The guest speaker will be Rafael Diaz, a retired detective with the New York City Police Department.

Participants in the ceremony include members of the St. Lucie County Fire District, Port St. Lucie Police Department and St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. Following the ceremony, guests are invited to gather inside the Event Center for light refreshments.
