Port St. Lucie marks MLK Day with community event at Whispering Pines

What: The City of Port St. Lucie's annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration will offer an afternoon of family-friendly activities, live entertainment and community engagement. The event begins with a Martin Luther King Jr. community march through the park, followed by a call-to-service initiative connecting volunteers with local service opportunities.

This year’s celebration will include a live painting of the MLK Jr. mural by TeePop, a Miami-based artist. The event will also host a book collection drive to support the City’s Little Free Library Program, encouraging attendees to donate new or gently used books to the community.

Entertainment includes live music by The Jewel Tones, an all-female vocal trio known for doo-wop favorites, Motown classics and modern hits with a Motown twist. Food trucks, children’s activities and open skating will be available. Attendees are encouraged to bring skates to enjoy Skate City.

When: Sunday, Jan. 18 from 1-4 p.m.

Where: Whispering Pines Park, 800 SW Darwin Blvd., Port St. Lucie

Why: This free community event pays tribute to the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., offering residents a meaningful opportunity to gather, reflect and celebrate his vision of unity and equality. Attendees are advised to bring their own chairs.
