As the festive season winds down, the City of Port St. Lucie Office of Solid Waste encourages residents to recycle their Christmas tree curbside.

Residents are invited to participate by removing the glitz and glamour – lights, tinsel, ornaments, and tree stands – from their Christmas tree. Once these festive ornaments are tucked away, the trees can be placed curbside on residents ’ weekly yard waste collection day  for their own magical journey. Collected trees will be mulched, providing a sprinkle of holiday magic for various landscaping and beautification projects across St. Lucie County.

“Recycling Christmas trees curbside not only lightens the load on our landfills but also transforms these trees into a gift that keeps on giving,” said Mariana Feldpausch, Director of the Office of Solid Waste.

And here’s a friendly reminder: please don’t place your tree in a plastic bag. Let’s keep the magic alive by ensuring these trees, once part of our holiday celebrations, can be easily transformed into valuable mulch without unnecessary waste.
