Published on January 23, 2024
What: The City of Port St. Lucie Parks & Recreation Department is hosting a public information meeting to update residents on the O.L. Peacock Sr. Park conceptual master plan. This meeting
aims to focus on the Land Water Conservation Fund Grant application for phase 2, which is a necessary step for approval.
When/Where: Virtual meeting: Thursday, Jan. 25, from 6-8 p.m.
Please register in advance by clicking here.
Why: The City of Parks and Recreation project team will review the early concepts and surveys for O.L. Peacock Sr. Park, initially designed in 2021. The project team will inform residents of this grant opportunity that, if awarded, will help construct additional amenities previously developed through the public engagement process. Key highlights of the project include:
• Review the approved O. L. Peacock Sr. Park Development Conceptual Master Plan.
• Focus on alerting the public about the grant application for phase 2 and its crucial role in the park's development.
If awarded the Land Water Conservation Fund Grant, O.L. Peacock Sr. Park Phase 2 amenities would include the following:
• Restrooms
• Large pavilion
• Bike racks
• Fencing
• A portion of the proposed nature trail around the lake.
• Wetland boardwalk trail
• Kayak launch area/bank restoration
This will be added to the O.L. Peacock Sr. Park Phase 1 construction, funded in part with the awarded $200,000 Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program Grant, that will include:
• Upland trail loops
• Landscaping and irrigation
• New entryway
• On-street parking (10 spaces)
• Benches (4)
• Trash cans (7)
• Entryway signage
• Wayfinding signage
• Open field space
• Small playground
• Small pavilions (2)
Phase 1 is anticipated to be completed in mid-2025. The completion of the phase 2 amenities will be determined upon a potential Land Water Conservation Fund Grant award, but likely not until late 2026 or early 2027. The expansive project area to be designed spans 165 acres.
A copy of the presentation will be available after the meeting on the City’s website. For more information about O.L. Peacock Sr. Park conceptual master plan, visitwww.PSLParks.com.
