Palm Tran launches new weekday premium coach service, Port St. Lucie Express in collaboration with the Florida Department of Transportation

State-of-the-art coach-style buses connecting West Palm Beach & Port St. Lucie

Palm Beach County, Florida – September 16, 2024 – South Florida commuters will enjoy the pleasure of convenience with the Port St. Lucie Express, a new service sponsored by a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and operated by Palm Tran. The Port St. Lucie Express is a weekday premium express coach service that offers a convenient and affordable non-stop commute between downtown West Palm Beach and Port St. Lucie for just $3 per ride. The well-anticipated first day of service will be on September 23, 2024, from the Gatlin Blvd Park and Ride to West Palm Beach Intermodal Transit Center.

"We have received an overwhelming amount of support and interest for an express bus service to connect West Palm Beach and Port St. Lucie. Thanks to the Palm Beach Board of County Commissioners and the Florida Department of Transportation, our community has an affordable transit option and greater connectivity," said Ivan Maldonado, executive director of Palm Tran.

The Port St. Lucie Express bus service will have two coach buses that will do four (4) trips daily from Monday to Friday. Commuters can patronize this affordable, cashless service using the Paradise Pass app, smartcard, or other contactless payment methods. Travelers can also plan their trips and track their buses using the Palm Tran App. For drivers, free park and ride locations are available at Gatlin Boulevard and West Palm Beach Tri-Rail Station. These buses have state-of-the-art features including free Wi-Fi, phone and laptop charging stations, air conditioning, extra comfort seats, and wheelchair accessibility.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is the main collaborator in this new bus service and has funded the operations for Port St. Lucie Express.
