City of PSL seeks applicants for two committees
Published on January 29, 2025
What: The City of Port St. Lucie is currently accepting applications for a position as an alternate member of the Construction Board of Appeals and a position as an alternate member of the Infrastructure Surtax Citizens Oversight Committee.
The Construction Board of Appeals is responsible for reviewing applications for contractors’ licenses, recommending changes in licensing procedures to the City's Building Official and hearing formal complaints made by citizens against contractors. The Board consists of seven members and two alternates, who serve three-year terms. All contractors serving on the Board must be St. Lucie County residents and hold either a current Florida state contractor’s license or a certificate of competency issued by the City and must also carry valid insurance and workers’ compensation as required by law.
Infrastructure Surtax Citizens Oversight Committee provides an independent oversight and reviews the expenditure of the surtax proceeds in a manner consistent with City Ordinance 18-50, County Ordinance 18-004, and Florida State Statutes. The surtax is the half-cent sales tax that voters approved in 2018 to help fund roads, sidewalks and water quality projects. The Committee consists of seven members and two alternates, who serve three-year terms.
Members are appointed by the City Council and serve on a voluntary basis.
