PORT ST. LUCIE – Unwrap some holly-jolly spirit early this year with Grandparents Night: Christmas in July, a new Parks and Recreation event made especially for grandparents and their favorite little elves!

The festivities begin at 6 p.m. Friday, July 11 at the Community Center, 2195 SE Airoso Blvd.

Kids ages 2-12 can add some sparkle to their summer as they jingle all the way to this off-season holiday celebration with their grandparents where they will enjoy a DJ, dancing, snacks, face painting, fairy hair and a photobooth to capture the night’s merry making. We hear Santa will be making a special trip from the North Pole to be part of the fun as well!

“While overseeing the most recent Daddy Daughter Dance, the Community Center Recreation team observed several grandfathers in attendance," said Tim Roth, Deputy Director of Recreation. "The team thought there should be a special night just for grandparents to spend with their grandchildren, very similar to the Daddy Daughter Dance.

“In thinking of their own grandparents, the team had some of their fondest memories from Christmas. With so many other things going on within the City in December, the team thought, ‘Why not have a Christmas in July?’ ”

Tickets are $10 per person, plus tax, and can be purchased in advance at PSLParks.com. Attendees are asked to bring a copy of the receipt to the event for entry.
