New Naturally PSL Awards honor community contributions to green spaces

Residents, businesses, schools and community groups are at the heart of a new program that will celebrate their efforts in enhancing Port St. Lucie’s natural environment.
The City of Port St. Lucie is launching the Naturally PSL Stewardship Awards Program as a result of an innovation project conducted with support from the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at John Hopkins University, and Centre for Public Impact. Through this project, city leaders and staff heard from thousands of residents about the importance of green space. Naturally PSL aims to raise awareness about the City’s green spaces available for the community to enjoy, provide information on upcoming projects and work with partners in contributing to land acquisition and green space enhancements.
“Naturally PSL is a community-driven initiative inspired by Port St. Lucie residents,” said Kate Parmelee, Deputy City Manager for Strategic Initiatives and Innovation. “The City is developing and improving green spaces and connecting residents with information and tools to access and protect green space across the City.”
The Naturally PSL Environmental Stewardship Awards Program is now open for nominations. The City invites individuals, community organizations, school programs, volunteer groups, businesses, and schools to apply for one of five different award categories:
- Naturally PSL Neighbors Award
- Naturally PSL Community Impact Award
- Emerging Environmental Leaders Award
