About the Addressing Division
The City of Port St. Lucie Addressing Division assigns and maintains all official addresses within city limits. Our goal is to make it easy for residents, visitors, businesses, and emergency responders to find locations quickly and accurately.
What we do:
- Assign New Addresses: We create official addresses for new homes, businesses and developments. Clear and consistent addressing helps ensure smooth navigation for the public and supports reliable emergency response.
- Resolve Address Issues: If an address is missing, unclear, or appears to be incorrect, we work to correct it. City Ordinance 09‑80, Section 41.10(C)(1–4) requires all structures to clearly display their assigned address so it can be seen from the road—this helps protect both residents and first responders.
- Correct or Update Addresses: We update address records as needed and share correct information with government agencies, utilities and service providers. Note: Property owner names are not included in these updates.

Can I choose my address?
No. Addresses are assigned based on an established addressing standard.
Can I request to change my address?
You can submit a request, and we’ll review whether the change is possible. Address changes could be approved for corner lots where the assigned address doesn’t match the orientation of the front door, or when a valid addressing issue exists and numbering allows for it.
How do I get a new address for a commercial or residential development?
When are new addresses assigned?
New addresses can be assigned once a site plan or plat has been approved by Planning & Zoning, approved by City Council, and recorded with the County. The timing of completing an address assignment depends on the size and complexity of the project.
