City of PSL highlights growing green spaces, family programs
Published on July 06, 2026
This July, the City of Port St. Lucie joins communities across the nation in celebrating Park and Recreation Month, recognizing the invaluable role parks, green spaces and recreation programs play in building strong, connected and healthy communities.
Throughout July, residents are invited to enjoy special events, explore new amenities and connect with each other on the new Parks & Recreation Instagram page to experience firsthand the many ways Port St. Lucie’s Parks and Recreation Department enriches daily life.
This year’s theme, “The Power of Parks and Recreation,” highlights how parks enhance quality of life, promote wellness and create meaningful experiences for people of all ages. In Port St. Lucie, residents often tell us that having access to parks and recreational opportunities is one of their top priorities, an essential part of feeling connected, healthy and rooted in their community.
Fitness programs that make an impact
Port St. Lucie’s Parks and Recreation Department supports wellness year‑round with programs designed to help people of all ages meet fitness goals. Whether it’s a gentle movement class or high‑energy exercise, residents can find programs that fit every ability level.
This July, two free classes invite residents to try something new:
- A Taste of Tai Chi: 9:15-10 a.m., Friday, July 10, Community Center, 2195 SE Airoso Blvd.
- Glow and Groove Zumba: 4:30–5:30 p.m., Saturday, July 18, MIDFLORIDA Event Center, 9221 SE Event Center Place.
Both classes are free, require no registration and welcome participants to simply show up, move and have fun.
Recreation Programs for all ages
Port St. Lucie’s Parks and Recreation Department also offers a wide range of year-round recreational programs that bring families, children, seniors and special populations together. Residents can participate in events such as Daddy Daughter and Mommy Son dances, Daddy Son Game Night, Enchanted Tea Parties and kids’ programs that encourage creativity and confidence. The City also hosts senior dances and a Special Populations Dance, giving everyone chances to enjoy meaningful community experiences.
Meeting the community’s need
In 2026, the City is bringing two new parks online to help meet residents’ requests for more green spaces. In June, the City opened Stars and Stripes Park, a 26.5-acre passive park that is a vibrant mix of green open spaces, scenic ponds and themed art installations designed to honor veterans and first responders.
Later this year, another milestone will take place when the City’s first regional park opens. Tradition Regional Park, a 110‑acre destination, will feature sports fields and a first-of-its-kind BMX all‑wheel facility, a unique amenity that will give riders of all ages a safe, exciting place to develop skills and confidence.
To help residents stay informed and inspired, the Parks and Recreation Department is launching a new Instagram account in July, offering updates, behind‑the‑scenes and ideas for enjoying the outdoors. On Instagram, search for @pslparksandrec.
