City of PSL under flood advisory
Published on October 08, 2026
The National Weather Service has placed Port St. Lucie under a flood advisory until 6:15 p.m.
🚦 The intersection at California and Savona boulevards is closed because of pooling water. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes.
📅 Because of today's inclement weather, River Nights at The Port District is canceled. Please try to stay dry, be safe out there! We will see you at the next River Nights on Thursday, Nov. 12 with Shawn Davis & the Black Ties.
Before anticipated rainfall, the Public Works Department inspects and clears drainage systems, grates and inlets to help prepare for these conditions. This week, where possible, they have lowered water levels in canals and retention ponds. Public Works and the Police Department also coordinate closely to monitor affected areas and respond to residents who need assistance as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The Public Works Department maintains swale drainage, rights-of-ways, waterways and City-owned canals throughout the year. New projects are completed annually to support and enhance the drainage system, in an effort to prepare the City for heavy rain events and storms.
In the event of standing water, these roadways have experienced ponding water after rain this week:
- California Boulevard and Savona Boulevard
- Thornhill Drive
- Floresta Drive (in Phase III construction area)
- Airoso Boulevard and Port St. Lucie Boulevard
- Lennard Road and Melaleuca Road
- Crosstown Boulevard and Broadview Street
If you encounter roads under water, avoid walking or driving through flooded areas. Water currents can be deceptive, and it may be difficult to determine the depth of the water by looking at it.
