City of Port St. Lucie November Rain Event Advisory 2

Published on November 03, 2026

Flooded roads with Cars driving

PORT ST. LUCIE – The City of Port St. Lucie continues to respond to the recent heavy rain event and monitor conditions throughout the community. Several roads have reopened, including California Boulevard and Savona Boulevard from Cycle Street to Venus Street to Parma Avenue.

As recovery efforts continue, residents are urged to use caution when traveling. Please be aware of road closures, allow extra travel time and follow all posted detours and barricades. Never drive through standing water. Floodwaters are often deeper and more dangerous than they appear and can quickly sweep away vehicles. Remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown. If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and use an alternate route. Your safety is the top priority.

City Facilities

City Hall will reopen normal business operations Wednesday, Nov. 4.

All Parks & Recreation facilities, programs and services will resume as normal Wednesday November 4, unless noted.  The Saints Golf Course, McCarty Ranch Preserve, Stars and Stripes Park and the Botanical Gardens will remain closed until conditions can be evaluated and cleared of any debris.  City parks will reopen, but athletic fields will remain closed until ground conditions dry out. In addition, there will be no Kids Camp scheduled during school closures.

Shelters

Because of the excessive flooding, and as waters continue to move west to east, St. Lucie County Emergency Management has opened temporary shelters for those who experienced flooding in their homes.

  • A general population shelter opened at Northport K-8 School, 250 NW Floresta Drive, Port St Lucie, FL 34983
  • A special medical needs shelter has opened at the Havert L. Fenn Center, at 2000 Virginia Ave., Fort Pierce, FL 34982

How to report home flooding

If you are experiencing an emergency or are in a home that is actively flooding, call 911 immediately. If floodwater entered your home but you are not in immediate danger, please report the damage to 1PSL at 772-871-1775 as soon as possible. Reporting residential flooding helps the City document the extent of storm damage and supports efforts to seek potential FEMA disaster assistance. Reporting your damage does not replace filing an insurance claim. Homeowners and renters should still contact their insurance provider directly to begin the claims process.

Stranded Vehicles

The Port St. Lucie Police Department is working with local towing companies to remove and relocate vehicles that are obstructing roadways and affecting emergency response and recovery efforts. Vehicles removed as part of this operation are being transported to a private tow yard or the MIDFLORIDA Event Center, 9221 SE Event Center Place, which has been designated as the temporary vehicle storage and recovery location.

Residents who believe their vehicle may have been relocated should contact 1PSL at 772-871-1775 or the Port St. Lucie Police Department non-emergency line at 772-871-5000 for assistance in locating their vehicle. Please have your vehicle information available when calling.

Solid Waste

The landfill is expected to reopen Wednesday, Nov. 4, and FCC Environmental Services plans to resume collection operations at 6 a.m. Residents are asked to place their garbage carts curbside before 6 a.m. Collection will follow the holiday service schedule, with all pickup days shifting to the next service day, including collections on Saturday.

FCC will service Tuesday's scheduled routes on Wednesday while also working to recover the remaining Monday routes throughout the week. Residents whose collection was missed on Monday should contact 1PSL at 772-871-1775 to report the missed service. Weather permitting, FCC anticipates completing all collection routes by Saturday.

Residents should continue to expect service delays and are encouraged to leave carts and materials curbside until they are collected. The City will continue to provide updates on its website and official social media channels as additional information becomes available.

Public Works

Public Works staff is continuing to make pothole repairs at various locations throughout the City to maintain safe travel. To report a pothole in Port St. Lucie, call 911. Prompt reporting helps the City address roadway issues quickly and safely. In addition, crews are updating road closure information and deploying barricades, as needed, to help protect public safety.

Emergency Management

City of Port St. Lucie Emerency Operation Center continues to coordinate closely with the St. Lucie County Emergency Operations Center and partner agencies to support ongoing response and recovery efforts. Efforts will include assisting with Building Department damage assessments, documenting rain-related impacts, evaluating recovery needs and helping prioritize response and repair activities throughout the community.

Utility Systems

The Utility Systems Department (USD) has staff responding to service requests and the call count has been low. The Water and Wastewater Plants continue to operate normally. USD has made all the necessary regulatory agency notifications regarding the effects of the flooding on the Wastewater Collection System. There are only seven Sewer Lift Stations still in high-level alarm but they continue to pump down.

There are three lift stations in the Tradition Seasons development that are without power that staff is still trying to access. The flooding of the area is preventing staff from setting a generator on the sites. Staff will continue to monitor the situation.

Field staff will be working their normal shift until midnight and it is expected that all operations will return to normal by tomorrow.
