The City of Port St. Lucie has established a formal discrimination complaint procedure and will take prompt and reasonable action to investigate and eliminate any discrimination that is found. Any person who believes they have been subjected to discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, family status, or income status in connection with any City program, service, or activity may file a complaint with the City’s Title VI/Nondiscrimination Coordinator.
This procedure applies only to complaints concerning discrimination in the provision of City services, activities, programs, or benefits. It does not apply to complaints relating to City employment matters, which are handled through separate processes.
Complaints must be submitted in writing within one hundred eighty (180) days of the alleged discrimination. Each complaint must include the complainant’s name, address, and phone number, along with a description of the alleged discrimination. The description should specify the basis for the complaint (e.g., race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, or family status) and include the date(s) on which the incident(s) occurred. The complaint must be signed by the complainant or their representative. If a complainant is unable to submit a written complaint, they should contact the Title VI/Nondiscrimination Coordinator for assistance.
Complaints should be submitted to:
Kristina Ciuperger, Assistant City Manager & Title VI/Nondiscrimination Coordinator
121 SW Port St. Lucie Blvd
Port St. Lucie, FL 34984
Telephone: 772-871-5207
Email: kristinac@cityofpsl.com
The Title VI/Nondiscrimination Coordinator will take reasonable steps to address and resolve the matter. The Coordinator has direct access to the City Manager and does not require prior approval to discuss discrimination issues with them. Within thirty (30) calendar days of receiving a complaint, the Coordinator will provide a written response to the complainant. This response will state the City’s position and may suggest possible options for resolving the matter.
If the complainant is not satisfied with the written response, they may submit a written appeal to the City Manager within fifteen (15) calendar days of the date of the Coordinator’s response.
The Title VI/Nondiscrimination Coordinator will retain a copy of the complaint, the written response, and all related documentation regarding the resolution of the matter.
