How to Become a Licensed Contractor

The Contractor Licensing Division is here to assist you with becoming a locally licensed contractor. As your sponsoring jurisdiction, staff will determine your eligibility based on the trade requirements.

Overview:

  • See Trade List Exam Codes(PDF, 131KB) for Reference Guides
  • Submit Exam Sponsorship Form(PDF, 115KB) and payment to the City of Port St. Lucie
  • Contractor Licensing Staff will process and determine eligibility
  • Upon processing your Sponsor Application and payment, we will provide you with the authorization necessary for you to schedule your examination(s).
  • Please Note: You are required to take the Business and Law Exam in addition to the Trade Exam.

Exams

Exams cannot be scheduled without authorization from the City of Port St. Lucie Once you are authorized by the City, you may request exam information and find testing locations:

  • Visit Prov's Exam Website and fill out the form with the options below
  • Exam Sponsor: City of Port St. Lucie
  • Select "Trade Exam" and "Business & Law Exam" (required) from drop down menus
  • Select "Create Exam Information Sheet" or "Find Testing Locations"
  • Enter your email address and select "Send Email" or "Print"
