Naturally PSL: Green Spaces & Places

Naturally PSL Green Spaces and Places

Naturally PSL celebrates the beauty of our city’s parks, trails, and natural areas—inviting the community to explore, enjoy, and help protect these treasured spaces. From upcoming projects to conservation efforts, we’re committed to preserving the environment for generations to come.

We’re partnering with residents, businesses, and nonprofit organizations to contribute to land acquisition to expand green spaces and enhance outdoor experiences. Together, we can create a greener PSL for everyone.

Naturally PSL is a community-driven initiative inspired by the collective vision of Port St. Lucie residents.

Ways to get involved

Who are we looking for?

Everyone! Whether you’re part of a volunteer group, an individual looking for a one-time project, or a community expert eager to share knowledge on plants, wildlife or photography—we have a spot for you.

  • Volunteer: Help with clean-ups, plantings, exotic removal, or murals—no long-term commitment or training required.
  • Adopt a Greenspace: Commit to a site and support it through monthly clean-ups, educational talks, guided walks or beautification projects.
  • Become an Ambassador: Share your expertise in plants, birds, art or local history. Help monitor greenspaces and lead workshops or educational sessions.
  • Environmental Stewardship Awards: Each year, the City honors individuals and community groups who go above and beyond to protect and preserve our natural environment.

Our Journey

  • At the 2023 Citizen Summit, residents ranked access to nature and neighborhood parks as their top priority.
  • Building on that vision, the City partnered with residents during the 2024 Citizen Summit to co-create solutions—an effort recognized globally by the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative as one of only 40 projects selected worldwide.
  • In 2025, Naturally PSL officially launched at the Citizen Summit. This initiative brings exciting enhancements, including park and conservation land improvements, an interactive trails map and website, the Environmental Stewardship Awards, the Conservation Corps, and the Village Green Drive Green Street Festivals.
  • To keep the conversation going, the City hosted public meetings—both in-person and virtual—starting May 12 at 6 p.m., followed by an on-site meeting at the designated green space on May 19 at 6 p.m.

Our Progress

  • 744.4 acres designated for future green spaces and places
  • 198 acres of City-owned natural preserves, within a total of 2,940.5 acres of natural areas citywide
  • 3,909.7 acres dedicated to the McCarty Ranch Preserve, Recreation, and Water Quality Project
  • 41.4 miles of trails currently available, with 20.3 miles in planning
  • 2 new parks opened in 2024, with 6 more scheduled for opening and improvements
