City University

What is City University?

City University is a free nine-session course that offers participants a first-hand look into City operations.

Attendees must register for the entire class. Information and links will be emailed weekly.

Participants will

Learn about the relationship between the citizens, the City Council, its boards and commissions and City administration.
Learn how and why projects are undertaken and how services are provided.
Receive an overview of the budget planning process, the development review process and many other responsibilities and functions of city government.
Receive an interactive learning experience through case studies, site tours, group discussion and hands-on experience.
Graduate as an Ambassador of the City with a greater understanding of municipal operations.

On-Demand Program

If you are interested in attending City University but your schedule doesn't allow you to participate in the standard Wednesday evening courses, we have another option for you, virtual classes from Fall 2020 are available on-demand!

Watch all 8 classes at your own pace, answer a few quiz questions for each class, and earn a City University certificate.
If you would like to earn a certificate, please write to CityU@cityofpsl.com or call 772-871-7395 for more information, and we will send you a City University On-Demand starter package.
For On-Demand participants, live demonstrations and tours will be available for sign-up at a future date.

Eligibility Requirements

Must be 18 years or older. High school juniors and seniors may apply with a letter of recommendation from a teacher.
The City is working on creating a Youth City University program. If you are under 18 years old or have children who would be interested in participating, please let us know by writing to CityU@cityofpsl.com.
Must live or work in the City of Port St. Lucie.
If you miss more than two sessions, you will not receive a graduation certificate.
